About

"Ever since they had entered the Forest they had thought chiefly of getting back to the Road; only now when it lay beneath their feet did they remember the danger which pursued them..."
--The Fellowship of the Ring, Fog on the Barrow-Downs

Beneath Your Feet is a podcast and blog dedicated to the lands of Middle-earth. Episodes are released monthly after my research show on Twitch as part of the LOTROStream team, which airs the last Tuesday of every month.

In the tales of Middle-earth, The Lord of the Rings; the Silmarillion; the Hobbit, the geography plays as integral a role as the characters do themselves. The land takes on a life of it's own: it is an obstacle to overcome, a boon in trouble, a home worth fighting for. In The Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) we are presented with the ability to traverse the lands we had previously only read about. The rub is that sometimes, even when it is right beneath our feet, we don't know that we tread over a great store of history.

In each episode a piece of Middle-earth -- a town, a region, an entire nation -- is examined. We will look at the geography itself, the history of the land and its people, and what it means for us as explorers and travelers.

Certainly LotRO provides the backdrop for Beneath Your Feet: the strongest feature of the game is its incredible landscapes. But always bear in mind that Beneath Your Feet is about Middle-earth.
